Review - Zombieland, Nuts Up!

If you're a fan of Grindhouse, Shoot 'Em Up or just want to see a funny ass zombie movie, then this is it! The movie pretty much is a mash-up of those shooter arcade games that had the actual guns you use to play as a kid meets blockbuster Hollywood, and actually done right. The cast is actually really well picked: Jesse Eisenberg is pretty much a brunette Michael Cera (Superbad), Emma Stone is great along with Abigail Breslin, and (an actor I'm not usually a fan of) Woody Harrelson made this movie. He was freaking hilarious with his lines and attitude. MINOR SPOILER: this movie has one of the funniest cameos I've seen in a movie with Bill Murray. I'm not going to give anything away but every scene Murray is in, is laugh out loud funny.

The zombies were cool looking with great kills, and it was fun(ny) how they made it almost into a videogame with them trying to get Zombie Kill of the Week. The amount of gore, pop out scares, and zombie kills were perfectly balanced with the humor. Definitely a boys out movie but girls would probably find this movie good too. OVERALL, if you want to see a non-thinking just fun and freaking hilarious movie then see Zombieland. The acting was good, the zombies were great, the movie was funny, and is just a fun thing to watch.

In a 6 person hot tub, there should be a maximum of 3 guys. Even though preferably 5 girls, 1 guy.

Rio de Janeiro Wins Bid

Rio de Jeneiro is the official location of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Chicago, Tokyo, and Madrid lost out in the race as the IOC decided in the end to side with Rio. Sucks that Chicago didn't get it since would've been close for the majority of us to try and see the best athletes in the world compete. But, you have to give credit for Rio for winning as the first ever South American city to hold the Olympics. But, for Rio now the real work begins. China spent around $58.5 billion to create what they did for the '08 Olympics. Rio still has time to build and make their city awesome as London is currently working on making their city ready for the 2012 games.

Bangarang! The New A-Team!

The new A-Team has started some early production. Check out some set photos here. Liam Neeson looks great with the grey hair comb over as Col. John 'Hannibal' Smith. The team's pretty legit, Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton 'Face' Peck, Sharlto Copley (from District 9) as Capt. H.M. 'Howling Mad' Murdock, and from the UFC Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson as Sgt. B.A. 'Bad Attitude' Barcus. Going to be real when released!

The Trilogies are coming!

Tarantino and Bay announced this week trilogies they're bringing back to the big screen. Tarantino decided that Kill Bill wasn't done yet as Kill Bill 3 will be coming to the big screens but he's made it sound like it'll be coming out in 2014. Kinda odd to announce a trilogy addition this early in the game, but with Tarantino you can never really understand what's going on in his head.

On a more important front, Michael Bay has announced that Transformers 3 will be coming in 2011 now, instead of earlier reports of 2012. Bay has already begun meetings with ILM (Industrial Light and Magic), the creators of the superb visual effects, to begin hammering away at new mind blowing effects for the next installation. If it's at all like T2, this film is going to be sick. Wonder who the next introduced babe is going to be on the big screen with Megan Fox. Check out the past post on the Babes of Transformers, so far Bay hasn't dissapointed and I doubt he will.

How to Tap a Keg

I'm too lazy to write a full guide myself, so I'm just going to direct you over to the guys at Wired who seem to be on a beer kick lately. They have a step by step guide to tapping a sanke keg (the standard tap). This shouldn't be anything new, anyone who knows what a solo cup is should have learned to tap a keg by now. If you're behind on the curve, this is for you. It also has a few things to think about for veterans.

One thing they forget to mention, don't actually roll the keg (they say something like "you just rolled the keg in"). Put it on something, like a dolly, that rolls.

http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Tap_a_Keg

Enjoy.

Ps. For those of you interested, I've been drinking a lot of beers from California lately. If you're looking for something new, you can never go wrong with any variety of Bear Republic or Stone. As a warning, more of there brews are heavily hopped than not. If that worries you, go for a pale ale or something that claims it's light and summery.

Toys Bombard the Big Screen

A recent release from the Hollywood Reporter has announced a massive slate of movies to be made based on classic toys. Some could be pretty freaking cool like Battleship which will be helmed by Peter Berg, and Ouija could make a spooky splash if done right by Michael Bay. Other toys to become features include: Stretch Armstrong , Candyland, Clue, and Monopoly. How well will some of these translate to the big screen? Who knows? I believe Battleship, Clue, and even Monopoly could be cool movies but I have no idea what they're going to do with Stretch, Candyland, and even Ouija might be a big mish-hap. Guess we'll see around 2011 and 2012 with the results.

True Rambo V synopsis

Click Here to find out what Rambo is going to be doing in his 5th film.

B.A. Barcus from the A-Team is casted

UFC Fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has been casted for the role of B.A. Barcus in the upcoming A-Team movie, starring along with Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson. He actually looks pretty similar to Mr. T, but the question is: can he act? Hopefully, but so far from what I've read and know about the A-Team, it's going to be a really sick film. Coming out in 2011 so there's still some ways to go, but hopefully it'll be a B Worthy masterpiece.

Rambo will Be Back!

Announced today, the 5th Rambo movie in the franchise has been officially green lit and Stallone will reprise the role. But what will this "plot" be for the film? Any thoughts?

The Mouse Buys the Web, Claw, Iron and much more

Announced today after several secret talks, the Walt Disney Company is purchasing Marvel for $4 billion! This includes the rights to over 5,000 Marvel characters, merchandise, tv, film, and anything Marvel related. Paramount will finish off its deal with Marvel up to Iron Man 3 (along with the Avengers series), but after that, Disney will have full control. This is going to be a fantastic buy out for Marvel since Disney allows their off-site companies some freedom. Just look at Pixar. Marvel also wants to join Disney because of Pixar, which could be a really cool creation of a film. Hopefully, Disney won't Disney-fy Marvel and make it childish, taking away from the darker look of some of the films. Another note within the buyout, Universal Studios has an Island dedicated to Marvel superheroes. At the moment, Universal is allowed to maintain the characters that they have used so far, but until a deal is closed no one knows if Marvel will close off all connections with that theme park. Which then turns to Disney's parks and resorts who can monopolize and make an incredible Marvel themed park. I think this is a great buy by Disney since Marvel has a great length of creations, and Disney has knowledge in pretty much every media venue there is.

Bro Code #12

Should a Bro pick up a guitar at a party and commence playing , another Bro shall point out that he is a tool.

Batman's Back at Arkham

Released recently is one of the most visually awesome games, and it's freaking Batman so that combo makes Batman: Arkham Asylum a worthy game. I played a demo of it at a Sony store and the interactions between hero and villain were incredible. Great movement, beastly character design, and, from other reviews I've read, the best Batman game ever released! That right there makes it legendary. Batman's also just one of the best heroes ever created since he's a combo of detective and kick ass crime fighter. Check out the site for the demo of the game.

Hanger Steak - A Legendary Cut

It's about time I started re-posting more about some manly meats. Already covered Beer Can Chicken, Beer Sausage, and had a Past B of the Day of T-Bone, but one of the most flavorful and just legendary cuts from the cow is the Hanger Steak. This slice of meat packs the most flavor compared to other meats even if it's not as tender. Only one hanger steak is found within each animal making it a B worthy cut. If you've never had it, get it. They're popular more in European restaurants, but you can also get them at the super market. The best way to cook this bad boy is on the grill. Hanger steak absorbs marinades like John Goodman consumes food, ipso facto, it absorbs a lot. Once you have it marinated throw it on the grill and cook it to medium-rare and then take it off and let sit. I prefer to wait til the tips of the steak are slightly burnt since it adds a little extra something to the flavor, in a good way. Fry up some french fries or just grab some potato chips and sit down and enjoy this meat. So the overall steps for feasting on this cut: Slightly burn it, serve it, eat it.

Bro Code #11

If a Bro be on a hot streak, another Bro will do everything possible to ensure its longevity, even if that includes jeopardizing his own records, the missing of work; or temporary immigration to a foreign country.

Brett's Back and no one knows why

Brett Favre has a deal with the Minnesota Vikings and has already geared up for practice for this season even though he supposedly "retired." I just don't get it. Favre should have retired and stayed retired when he was at the top of his game with the Packers instead of trying to maintain his glory years first with the Jets and now with the Vikings. The guy is obviously a great QB, team leader, and knows the in and outs of the game, which can be a great benefit for a team. I just don't think he should be playing any more. It's time to hang up the pads and red shirt, and segue into becoming a coach or commentator. Will he play is a big question too. Most likely, if they Vikings signed him, yes. Should he? Probably not.

Past B of the Day

Doe-eyed, sexy, and sings about making out with babes. Katy Perry sounds pretty B Worthy to me.

Be a Video Game designer

Beginning three days ago, GameStop, SMU Guildhall, and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences have created the Indie Game Challenge where amateurs and professionals can stop complaining about the problems in their video games and go design there own. Amateurs can design their own game and submit it to the Challenge until October 1st, 2009 where the winner will receive $100,000 in award money along with auditions to meet with game developers. Amateurs and Professionals are in separate competitions to be fair. Pretty cool idea since it's become more of a possibility to create your own games, and to win 100 Gs would be a pretty sick way to start it off.

Click Here for the official site and rules for the competition. And if you win, ya better send me a free copy.

Quick Review - Mad Men Season 3 Premieres

Mad Men is back in its 3rd season and aired last night at 10pm. The show definitely did not dissapoint bringing back its classic characters and tangled storyline. No wonder the show keeps on being awesome since the creator also did The Sopranos. The style and look of Mad Men is one of the best on TV, and plots and twists definitely keep up. Not just that but the babes of the show are just incredible (click here for post on the babes!). If you haven't watched the series before, definitely check out it online and next Sunday at 10pm.

Bolt Breaks World Record..Again!

Last Sunday at the Track & Field World Championships, Usain Bolt blew away the competition and his insane old world record by setting a new 100m record at 9.58 seconds! That time destroyed his already beastly record by .11 seconds. If you don't follow track, or short sprints, to improve by .11 is as difficult as pulling three hat tricks in consecutive games or kicking a 70 yard field goal. It's just not done. Bolt is in an entire league of his own, it's just beastly to watch this guy run and he's only 22 years old! Just beastly. In second place was American Tyson Gay with 9.71 and in third, Bolt's fellow Jamaican and at one time the fastest man, Asafa Powell at 9.84. Speed is something that you're born with, you can perfect your motions and technique, but you can't teach speed. And Bolt has definitely been born with more than enough. Bolt is definitely a B Worthy athlete!

Past B of the Day

Billiards is a B Worthy Ball sport since it's just a real chill game to play with your bros at a house, bar, or where ever. And the trick billiard tournaments on TV are pretty sick too.

Review - District 9, Brings in new era of Sci-Fi

District 9 is about aliens who get stuck on Earth, and the humans force them to live in slums. One worker of MNU starts to realize what the humans are doing (plus something else that I won't giveaway) and helps the aliens. First off, see this movie in theaters. This movie is a movie to be seen on the big screen with good sound. Everyone has seen the "Non-Human" billboards, bench posters, etc. around, and definitely brought up a question of what they are for. An awesome marketing plan for a great movie. At first, the film started pretty slow. There were interviews with a documentary-esque style to the film (which turned into a major plus) and I was just not giving a sh*t about it. But then the movie got out of 1st gear and skipped all the way to 4th. When the lead character started to change and understand what's happening, everything became better. Action grew exponentially, the visuals became even more amazing, and other crazy stuff began. The filming was one of the coolest parts of the film since it was like a documentary at time, you felt you were in the middle of fights as blood splattered/covered the lens. But, the best parts were the weapons! The guns and robot in the film were so freaking cool, and not just that, the film makers made the way they killed people so realistic looking. People in the audience all the time were cringing or cheering when one of the guns went off. The guns weren't completely creative (if you play v-games you know a good range) but their realism is what made it beastly, along with the smooth interaction of the alien robot.

The entire visuals of the film turned out for the better too. The CGI was so seamlessly put into the film, you begin to think the aliens were real. Director, Neill Blomkamp, said he treated the CGI like any other part of film making, instead of glorifying it like other films, which is why the creatures look and feel so realistic. Not just that but the budget of his film was only $30 mil, compared to Transformers 2, which was $200 mil, just proved Blomkamp's point. The aliens looked so real, and their design was pretty unique too. I also liked that it took places in South Africa since I've never seen a Hollywood blockbuster have zero-USA relations, and it was able to utilize the culture. And, the acting was pretty spot on. For an ensemble with zero-named actors, they all meshed very well together, but the aliens definitely out shined the humans. Some negatives to the film was the slow start, some of the shots were too jostled, and there were one or two slow parts.

Overall, see this movie in theaters. It has created a new feel, treatment, and style to the Sci-Fi genre. It may have started slow, but it definitely picked up and then some. Awesome weapons! Brutal visuals! and definitely B Worthy!
