Eli Manning and the Giants agreed on a 6-year contract for $97.5 million with a $35 mil guarantee, but it isn't 100% complete. If the deal goes through, this would make Manning the highest paying QB in Giants history, he would get $15.3 mil a season, and would be the biggest per-year long-term contract in the NFL. Let me start off by saying I am a Giants fan, always have been and always will be. But, I can not understand this big of a deal for Manning. Yes, he was MVP Super Bowl XLII, and yes, he does play extremely well at times. But, that is definitely not all the time. Manning is a B-average QB who fell of the wagon at the end of last year's season, and has benefited from having one of the most amazing offensive lines in NFL history along with amazing support from receiver and running backs. Manning and the Giants are going to have a tougher time this year with both Burress and Toomer gone, along with a slightly weaker defensive line-up. Everyone knows I want the Giants to go all the way (and they will!), but I don't think Manning deserves that kind of a contract. The Giants are definitely a B Worthy team!
