Last night was the premiere of ABC's new hour drama,
Defying Gravity. The show is about eight astronauts living aboard an international spacecraft on a mission through the Solar System. It stars a couple of good names: Ron Livingston, Laura Harris, and Paula Garces. It is a pretty well compiled show with each character representing a different personality. You have the nerd, the tough chick, the sunny woman, love interest, the goof, the token black guy, and the hero with a troubled past. All who interact smoothly together propelling the story line. It has a similar format/formula as
Lost with flashbacks of the training sessions so the viewer learns about the crews' interaction together, and of course there is the mystery. So far the mystery has been refered to as 'It'. Not sure what It is, but it has chosen each astronaut for a reason, gives them each dreams that connect, and for one astronaut, she hears the sound of a baby crying. The first episode was a little slow as they had to build up the background, and it has some humor with the solution of a leak in the astronaut suit to be filled by a loo-gee. I'm going to see how the next few episodes turn out, and I do want to know what It is. The show has a solid cast, great cinematography, already gravity-free sex, a couple of cute babes, and could become B Worthy. Be on the watch out for a Quick Blip post for an update on next week's episode.
