Billionaire's Buying the Cubs

Yesterday, the Tribune Co. has begun selling the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Park, and other related assets to TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts for a price of about $900 million. The deal isn't 100% complete but Cubs fans are, at the moment, happy about the sell since the Rickett family are die hard Cub fans and not just in it for the money. But the real question is: will this new owner be able to change the Cubs fate? I'm going to guess most likely no, well not for a couple years at the very least until Rickett starts bringing in newer and better players to the franchise. The Cubs at the moment are 3rd in their division and trailing behind the Brewers and Cardinals so there could be some chance of movement within the standings. But, I have to give credit to Joe Rickett for buying a franchise cause that's just a freaking cool thing to do when you have that kind of money and are a fan of the team. That's one baller billionaire.
