Comedian Russell Brand is returning as host for this year's MTV VMAs airing on September 13th in NYC. Last year, Brand was called controversial for being outspoken, saying crude lines, and for being himself. He's a rough crude comedian and MTV has to know what they're getting themselves in for. Known for his roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Bedtime Stories, this English comedian is known as a player and doesn't care what critics think. He was freaking hilarious in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and I thought he was a good host last year, and is slowly bringing back what MTV award shows use to be: controversial and made to make fun of award shows. If you've ever seen early 90s VMA or Movie Awards they were complete jokes, and made to be that way. Hell, the first honoree award for movie awards went to Jason from Friday the 13th, but now MTV became like every other award show: pretty boring. So hopefully Brand will continue to spice things up and make MTV like it use to be.According to MSN, Taylor Swift is the only announced performer for the show.
