Reynolds becomes the Green Lantern

Ryan Reynolds has officially been casted to play the Green Lantern in the upcoming film due out in 2011. Reynolds is now apart of both comic universes as Deadpool for Marvel and (I'm pretty sure it's going to be) Hal Jordan a.k.a the Green Lantern for DC. If you don't know about the Green Lanterns, they are an intergalactic police force who are given a power ring that helps them control the physical world and become the hero. I think out of most of the DC Universe, the Green Lantern is one of the better heroes and kicks ass. Attached to The Green Lantern film to direct is Martin Campbell who has previously done Casino Royale and is being written by Greg Berlanti and Michael Green. The story is going to most likely center on how Hal Jordan gains his powers and becomes the Green Lantern.

Reynolds is definitely a great pick for the role since Hal Jordan is a powerful fighter and skilled pilot, but is also a laid back comic kind a guy which fits Reynolds perfectly. And after seeing Reynolds as Deadpool, which he kicked ass in, he can definitely be a formidable action star. Bradley Cooper from The Hangover was also up for the part and could've been a good fit too. So now Reynolds will be donning two parits of tights in 2011 as Deadpool and The Green Lantern are set for release of that year.
